Coaches Office Hours
Enjoy the time with your students this week. No PD from us. No additional learning. We simply hope that you find joy in being together and in the energy students are already bringing to our campuses – we have waited so long time to have them back with us. If you need us, please reach out. And, of course, all the resources we have shared are linked below.
Have a beautiful week, Jessica, John, Demoree, Stacey, Monica, and Paula |
Building 🧑🏿🤝🧑🏽 Community in a Hybrid Learning Classroom: In this session you will learn about the impact of relationships on learning and a variety of ways to build community in your classes as we prepare for the return of students in hybrid instruction. The most important aspect of the return for students is the connection they will feel to you and to one another -- the first few weeks will be critical. You will leave the session with a variety of strategies you can use immediately with your students.
Strategies for 👩🏽🏫 Teaching in a Hybrid Learning Classroom: To help you successfully transition to hybrid, this session will show you how to leverage available technology to maximize the experience of your Roomies and Zoomies. We will also present lesson activities and class models that seek to build community and enhance instruction for all.
- Resources:
- 👩💻 Slide deck (View only version - contains links to all resources used in the session)
- 👩💻 Slide deck (copy version w/speaker notes-you will have to make a copy to see it)
- 🗒️ Session 2 Chat (4/1/21) Session 1 Chat (3/30/21): In case you wanted the good ideas shared by all

More Hybrid Resources:
🎦 Classroom Tech Setup Video - This video provides our recommendations for setting up your classroom technology to support community building and hybrid learning. For those of you who would like to revisit the video in the coming weeks, we've broken up the video into the following chunks so you can re-watch the segments that are most relevant to your classroom (click on the linked times below go directly to that portion of the video).
👩💻 Slide Deck with Scenarios and Corresponding Photos - This slide deck is an extended version of the video, including sample classroom models you can look at as you grapple with what tech you will use for which instructional purposes.
👩🏽🏫 Demonstration Classrooms on Each Campus: The coaching team worked with one or two teachers on every campus to set up a demonstration classroom so that other teachers could come in and visualize the setup for their own rooms. We are so appreciative of the teachers who opened their rooms to us so that we could brainstorm, collaborate, and set up the equipment to meet their instructional goals. Please ask your site administrator where your demo classroom is on campus.
🖥️ Tech One-Pager - This handout explains the technology tools available for hybrid instruction. Each item is paired with a brief description of potential uses and links to user guides or information on the device.
🗓️ Hybrid Instruction Bell Schedule: This link will take you to the revised hybrid instruction bell schedule. You will find the first week schedule, including the plan for Monday, and you will find the updated bell schedules for early and late start teachers.
⏯️ Instruction Q&A Session: Last week, the Instruction Division hosted a Q&A session. For those who couldn't attend, we have provided the link to the recording of that session. We answered teachers' most pressing questions. Please remember, though, that the schedule we discuss in this video is notthe schedule we will use for hybrid instruction.
After you have viewed the resources, we ask you to consider these ❓questions❓ as you process what hybrid teaching will look like for you and the classroom you hope to provide for your students:
